Alanna Boyd, MA, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Arizona and holds Counseling Compact privileges in Ohio and Minnesota, allowing her to provide virtual therapy to clients residing in all three states.

In addition to her clinical work, Alanna serves as contributing faculty with the University of Iowa’s Department of Rehabilitation and Counselor Education, where she develops and teaches coursework for the Integrated Career, Substance Use, and Mental Health Counseling certificate program. As an alumna of the program, this work represents a meaningful full-circle return to the foundation of her clinical training and a continued investment in shaping the next generation of counselors.

Her work is grounded in three core values: empathy, inclusivity, and empowerment. These are not just guiding principles, but the foundation of how she approaches every client relationship.

  • Empathy
Healing begins with feeling genuinely understood. Alanna creates a space where clients can show up as they are, without judgment. By deeply listening and attuning to each individual’s experience, she tailors her approach to meet the unique needs of every client.

  • Inclusivity
As a woman, a member of the BIPOC community, and a person with a disability, Alanna is committed to creating a space where all identities are respected, affirmed, and valued. Her practice is intentionally inclusive of individuals who have felt unseen or marginalized, with a focus on honoring each client’s lived experience.

  • Empowerment
Alanna believes that every person holds the capacity for growth, resilience, and meaningful change. Her goal is to help clients reconnect with that inner strength, develop clarity, and move through challenges with confidence. Success in therapy is defined by a client’s ability to navigate their life in a way that feels grounded, empowered, and aligned with who they are.

She is dedicated to walking alongside her clients, supporting them in moving beyond survival and toward a life that feels more stable, intentional, and fulfilling.

Therapeutic Approaches

Alanna integrates a range of evidence-based and relational approaches to provide care that is both structured and adaptable:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Relational Therapy

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

These approaches allow her to meet clients where they are, whether they are working to shift thought patterns, improve relationships, process trauma, or explore deeper aspects of themselves. Therapy is collaborative, flexible, and tailored to support each client’s goals and pace.
